Portugal
Something was “calling” me to Portugal. I just needed to answer that call as I did for Italy and Peru. My husband and I visited Portugal in the fall of 2024 and fell in love with the people, the terrain, the food, and the wonderful energy of the country. The people were so humble, authentic, kind, and always wanted to help in any way they could.
As we traveled from the north (Porto) to the south (the Algarve), we found the entire country to be quite magical. I wasn’t sure why I was so drawn to Portugal, especially the Algarve. As synchronicity happens, my friend Alex was going to the Algarve for an art retreat at Quinta Bonita the following June, just minutes from where we were staying in Lagos. After Alex returned, I visited with her and listened to her experience. She had nothing but rave reviews of the beautiful villa! I knew immediately what was pulling me to Portugal—I wanted to host a women’s retreat at Quinta Bonita! Hence, my first retreat is now scheduled for June of 2027! Thank you, Alex!

Spend seven nights at Quinta Bonita, a beautiful retreat center on 2.5 acres with spectacular mature gardens, including an outdoor swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, massage cabin, and multi-leveled terracing that has many different locations to relax and unwind in a safe and spacious environment.
What to Bring
In addition to your summer clothing and a pair of good walking shoes, pack comfortable slip-on shoes or sandals for walking around the villa gardens, sunglasses, sunscreen, a bathing suit, a sun hat, and a waterproof jacket.
The Food
Prepare for a culinary delight! You'll experience fresh, local food that tantalizes the taste buds. Enjoy healthy, flavorful meals, and, with dinner, savor fine Portuguese wine.
The Studio
The glass-fronted open studio overlooks the gardens and one of the fountains. It opens on all three sides, enabling plenty of air flow in addition to allowing the sun and birdsong to pour in. The studio has air conditioning for hot summer days.

Bathroom and beach towels are provided as well as a hairdryer, 2-in-1 body gel, conditioner, hand soap, and body lotion. These products are from a beautiful luxury Portuguese brand.

- When not relaxing and unwinding in the Quinta gardens or by the pool, you are located within 4 kilometers from the historic port town of Lagos with its many beautiful beaches, grottoes, shops, restaurants, and museums. Likewise, Quinta Bonita is located 4 kilometers from Praia da Luz, a quaint beachside village and the closest beach.
- There are bicycles to hire and private drivers to explore the local areas.
- You can arrange a huge variety of activities, such as hiking, cycling, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing, jeep touring, wine tastings, sky diving, and horseback riding.
- Once you arrive and are settled, you can inquire about all the available activities and book directly with Quinta Bonita.
